Pengaruh Literasi Media Terhadap Partisipasi Kewarganegaraan Mahasiswa
Abstract
This study aims to analyze the effect of media literacy on students’ civic participation. The research employed a quantitative method with an associative approach. The study population consisted of 335 students, while the sample comprised 183 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Jamovi software through validity, reliability, normality, t-test, and coefficient of determination analyses. The results indicated that all questionnaire items measuring media literacy and civic participation met the validity criteria. The research instruments also demonstrated good reliability, with Cronbach’s alpha values of 0.900 for media literacy and 0.928 for civic participation. The regression analysis yielded a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.440, indicating that media literacy accounted for 44% of the variance in students’ civic participation, while the remaining 56% was associated with other factors outside the research model. Overall, the findings suggest a positive and statistically significant relationship between media literacy and students’ civic participation. This study highlights the importance of developing media literacy to support students’ involvement in social and civic life in a critical and responsible manner.
